Million Clicks for Million Hearts

Location: Allentown, Pennsylvania, population 120,207

The Problem: Adults are reporting that they do not take part in leisure-time physical activity.

Healthiest Cities & Counties Challenge Approach: "Million Clicks for Million Hearts" is a walking campaign aimed at the immediate problem of physical inactivity that can lead to eventual obesity and heart disease.  Initially launched as a part of the CDC’s national Million Hearts initiative, the program’s title reflects the unique “click to walk” technology that will allow walkers to log their walks using a keytab that is synced to JobClock devices along various citywide walking paths. The JobClocks enable staff to track every walk taken and incentives for frequency will be rewarded. The program aims to register activity for residents from disparate populations who comprise over 50 percent of residents in Allentown.
