Advocacy plays an essential role in shaping public health. All individuals, even those outside of the public health sector, can advocate for health policy decisions and influence issues related to public health as “context experts,” sharing their experiences to encourage improved policies. Recognizing the important role they play in influencing decision makers, Challenge project teams are advocating for public health in their own unique ways. From the development of food policy councils and community advisory boards that work with local governments, to building relationships with powerful institutions within their communities, our 20 project teams are actively working to help change policies related to accessing food and health services.
